Smoove City (2020-)

In the fluorescent-lit food court of a suburban mall, Ray, Ronnie, Vinnie, and Mikey—the aspiring group Smoove City—spend their days harmonizing over pizza slices. Their first demo tape, recorded with pooled cash, is meant to be their ticket out. Instead, it delivers them into the hands of a shady manager and onto a cramped, grimy tour bus. A contractual misunderstanding rapidly escalates, recasting the four friends from hopeful unknowns into wanted figures within the music industry. Their sudden, chaotic notoriety tests every bond as they navigate this new, unglamorous reality. The dream they chased now has a distinctly bitter aftertaste.
