Vatican City (2025-)

The world outside the walls is silent, its population replaced by a nocturnal horde. Within the fortified enclave of Vatican City, two thousand survivors exist in a state of suspended grace, protected by ancient relics and consecrated ground. The tourists and clergy inside watch as the sun sets on a planet they no longer recognize. Beyond the barricades, the patient, countless vampires stand motionless in the Roman night. Their siege is not one of force, but of attrition, an endless vigil against faith. Inside, supplies are counted, prayers are whispered, and every shadow is measured against the coming dawn.
