In the year 2142, a global fertility collapse created a desperate market for illegal clones. Millions of families welcomed these genetic duplicates, unaware of the latent defect. Now, three in four of these individuals inevitably transform into homicidal Dupes. The United Nations of Europe has deployed its Duplicate Identification and Capture Division to contain the threat. Known on the streets as the Skin Police, their grim duty is to identify and neutralize Dupes before their violent episodes begin. Their work is complicated by a single, chilling fact: the target is always a neighbor, a friend, or a family member. The air in every hab-block is thick with unspoken suspicion.
