The sun-bleached boardwalk of Port Dorian is slick with an unnatural, iridescent sheen. For best friends and lifeguards Ben and Leo, the season of hot guys and bonfires ended with the tide. A local researcher lies motionless in a clinic bed, her investigation into the offshore spill cut short. Now, after dark, something moves through the dunes. Panicked tourists flood the evacuation routes as a pack of slime-drenched, subhuman figures drags stragglers from the sand. The salt air carries the scent of chemical rot and distant screams. The perfect summer is a memory, buried under the incoming sludge.
