The sun-bleached boardwalk of Santa Monica is a world of curated trends and social pressure, a place where Kori Anders feels perpetually out of step. Her older sister, Kira, thrives in this environment, especially with her boyfriend, Tate Fairweather. Kori’s quiet summer is disrupted when Tate’s uncle, pharmaceutical CEO Lynch Fairweather, recruits both sisters for a clinical trial targeting Kori’s Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The treatment triggers unexpected physiological changes within Kori, granting her abilities she cannot explain. As these new powers manifest, she grows increasingly suspicious of the Fairweather family’s motives, realizing the trial’s effects may not be unique to her.
