The worn brick of The Ruby in Gotham holds a century of names. As the queer establishment prepares to close, its final patrons gather. Among them is Alan Scott, whose own name is carved beside that of Johnny Ladd in the basement. But the wall’s magic is not dormant. It pulls a disparate group—The Question, Midnighter and Apollo, Harley Quinn, Jo Mullein, and others—into a fabricated dimension that perfectly mirrors their desires. This manufactured paradise is maintained by the ancient power of the Starheart. To find a way back, they must first understand what they are truly willing to leave behind.
