Ten years have passed since the men of the village marched away to fight in The Great War. In their absence, the women, children, and elders have maintained the rhythms of life in their isolated valley, their only knowledge of the conflict being its initial purpose. No letters or messengers have arrived in a decade. The fields are still tended, but the silence from beyond the mountains has grown heavy. A generation has come of age knowing only this waiting.
