The Fortress of Solitude is gone. The familiar bonds of Lois and Clark Kent are absent. On this world, Kal-El stands alone, a solitary figure in the skies over Metropolis. What remains is a being stripped of his traditional anchors, his actions no longer tempered by a civilian identity or a sanctuary in the arctic. This is the Absolute Man of Steel, defined solely by his power and his presence. The city below watches a different kind of hero, one whose motivations are as alien and unreadable as the stars from which he came. His cape cuts a stark silhouette against the sun.
